Since the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996, industry and the federal government have recognized enterprise architecture (EA) as a best practice for IT management and a top enabler of modernization and transformation goals. Through the Clinger-Cohen Act, the federal government has mandated that federal agencies and services develop and use Enterprise Architecture (EA) for all program development, acquisition, and planning activities. DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF) built Enterprise Architectures combined with other best practices—such as CPIC, capabilities/solutions development, acquisition, and supplier agreement/customer resource management, can provide your agency with a strong business methodology for planning, operating, and managing your enterprise.
Enterprise architecture supports the management of your agency’s capabilities through the alignment of your mission, strategy, operations, systems, initiatives, investments, and business processes. By fully developing an EA, your agency will have a decision support tool, backed by operational and systems views, that focuses on the collection of enterprise-level data to enhance your technical and operational decision making. EA cuts across organizational boundaries to enhance agency-wide portfolio management while also ensuring sound IT investment strategies.

Solution Architecture encompasses a well-defined set of systems and sub-systems that are loosely-coupled and with clearly-defined interfaces. In most cases, a well-thought and clearly defined Solution Architecture is the foundation for maintainability of software systems.
Absent such rigor, IT systems can quickly devolve into a maze of intermingled systems that have cross-dependencies and progressively harder to maintain and enhance. A well-defined Solution Architecture encourages architected reuse, which results in significant cost savings for the enterprise.
At AF DCGS, DHARA™ worked with key stakeholders to drive the organization towards Shared Services, such as SOA ESB. This resulted in significant cost savings and enterprise-wide cost avoidance.
Another key factor for Solution Architecture is the adherence to sound Software Engineering principles such as 12 factor principles. DHARA™ Has evangelized this methodology to various development teams, which resulted in modular and containerized software, resulting in portability across deployment domains and easier maintainability.
UML and Model Based Systems Engineering are key toolsets and frameworks that a good Solution Architect utilizes to drive towards establishing a maintainable and reusable set of software systems. DHARA™ has expert staff that are proficient in all aspects of these tools and regularly develop solutions for our customers.
Enterprise Architecture encompasses the larger goals of an enterprise. Enterprise Architecture is realized through one or more Solution Architecture(s). Keeping the larger scope of Solution Architecture is a big factor in its success.
DHARA™ Team understands the clear distinctions and nuances between Enterprise Architecture and Solution Architecture. Our team has a very rich mixture of both talents.
Shared by the enterprise/chief architect.

Container orchestration technology is used to manage and automate containerized software deployments. Orchestration software provides cluster management, ease of scaling, high availability through self-healing and ultimately enables operations teams to govern the shape and size of a containerized deployment to meet mission load and demand. An application can be scaled in real-time and without the need for downtime by simply changing a variable. Applications can also be scaled up or down automatically based on system load definitions.
Kubernetes is a popular open source platform for container orchestration. Kubernetes can manage distributed clusters across both private and public clouds individually or even simultaneously, for high availability hybrid-cloud deployments. This capability provides an automated response to network unavailability by deploying addition containers to the available cloud provider.
Dhara specializes in leveraging containerization and Kubernetes technologies to enhance, scale, and deliver mission-critical, highly available system design. Transform your organizations capability through rapid self-recovery, multi-cloud and multi-platform capabilities through the power of containerization.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Government Accountability Office (GAO) are placing increasing importance on the planning, selection, and control of IT investments. To achieve your agency’s strategic goals, thorough understanding of IT governance and project oversight definition is required.
Capital Planning Investment Control (CPIC) is not an exercise in paperwork or something you do to check off a box on a scorecard. It is a systematic approach of selecting the right mix of investments to meet goals, and then managing those investments to ensure success. The CPIC methodology’s select, control, and ongoing evaluation process ensures that each investment’s objectives support the needs of your agency and align with the established enterprise architecture.
Through the sound management of IT investments, the CPIC process not only ensures that investments maximize returns to your agency but can also minimize risks while contributing to your IT strategy. The CPIC process operates most efficiently when all IT initiatives are subject to the same levels of oversight, quality control, and executive review to ensure that IT investments are managed within cost, schedule, and performance parameters.
