Job Title: Secure Systems Engineer, Senior
Department: Engineering
Location: Warner Robins, GA (On-site)
Position Overview
The Secure Systems Engineer provides critical support to aircraft programs by embedding cybersecurity directly into the weapon system architecture. This role partners closely with our Cybersecurity Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate security policies and Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements into actionable engineering designs. The ideal candidate is an ABET-accredited engineer who blends traditional systems engineering with a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles, ensuring that cyber resilience is built into system architecture and avionics from the ground up.
Responsibilities
Secure System Design & Integration
- Apply Secure Systems Engineering principles across the system development life cycle to embed cybersecurity into aircraft architecture, hardware, and software.
- Collaborate with Cyber SMEs to translate RMF controls and program protection requirements into concrete engineering specifications and design constraints.
- Ensure security mechanisms are integrated seamlessly with hardware, software, and avionics systems without degrading aircraft system performance.
Architecture & Vulnerability Analysis - Analyze logic-bearing components, network boundaries, and complex data flows from an engineering perspective to identify systemic vulnerabilities.
- Develop and maintain the Architecture Analysis Report (AAR), documenting system components, data flows, and cyber boundaries.
- Perform functional thread and attack path analysis to design secure technical solutions and mitigate risks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Review - Act as the primary technical liaison bridging the gap between cyber compliance and the physical technical execution by the engineering team.
- Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), and Critical Design Reviews (CDR) to verify that proposed engineering solutions satisfy all mandated cybersecurity requirements.
- Work side-by-side with hardware, software, and avionics engineering teams to guide the implementation of security controls.
Process & Documentation Support - Provide engineering-specific artifacts and technical data to support the development of the System Security Plan (SSP), Risk Assessment Report (RAR), and Program Protection Plan (PPP).
- Develop and refine secure engineering processes and best practices for the program.
- Ensure that engineering designs are accurately documented to support RMF and A&A activities.
